As mentioned in the October faculty meeting, the Department has finalized the Faculty Development Fund Policy for Fiscal Year 2026. This policy is intended to provide a standardized and transparent framework for supporting faculty professional development in response to funding constraints, budget predictability and the need for equitable access to resources. As emphasized, the Department highly values faculty professional development and remains committed to supporting these opportunities despite national funding challenges.
Allocations (detailed therein) begin October 1, 2025, and must be used by September 30, 2026. Funds accumulated cannot carry forward however there is a provision for utilization of previously accumulated balances over a defined period and up to a certain allocation. Necessities related to doing one’s daily job (license etc.) are not subject to development fund draw down.
The policy also includes an exception request process for high-cost or specialized opportunities, such as international presentations, leadership programs etc. that are unique and beneficial to faculty development.
The full policy is attached. You can reach out to French separately if any questions arise.
